Garden for all Seasons
The Lake Ohau Cottage boasts a colourful, mature cottage garden. Perhaps one of the best features of the garden are the grevillia bushes which have lovely red blossoms all through autumn and winter and which ensure constant visitation by native bellbirds.
In the spring there are many gorgeous rhododendrons, camellias, flowering cherry blossoms, iris, lilac, native kowhai and many others giving way to roses. Gala and crabapples are ripe in the autumn and provide tasty eating and wonderful sauces.
Native hebes, flowering shrubbery, and a medley of perennials grace the garden all summer. Mint, rosemary, sage, and thyme are within a few steps and complement salads, roasts, and barbecues.
